Last updated: 27 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data SoEd Labs Ltd (“SoEd”, “we”, “us”) collects when you visit www.soed.uk or use SoEd Learning at app.soed.uk, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. We collect as little as we can and we never sell personal data.

2. What we collect

When you visit our website

Our public website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Like any website, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested). We use them only to keep the service secure and working.

When you create an account or sign in

You can sign in to SoEd Learning with an email address and password, or with your Google account. Sign-in is handled by a specialist identity provider on our behalf.

  • Email and password: your password is stored securely by our identity provider. We never see or store it.
  • Sign in with Google: with your permission, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture and Google account identifier. We ask only for this basic profile information. We do not get access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts or any other Google data, and we cannot act in your Google account.

To run your account we keep an account identifier, your email address, your name, and when you created your account and last signed in. We also keep a record of sign-in activity to protect your account against misuse.

SoEd Learning uses only strictly necessary cookies: to keep you signed in and to protect the sign-in process. They do not need your consent and are never used for advertising or tracking.

If you sign in with Google, we use the information Google provides (name, email address, profile picture and account identifier) only to create and secure your SoEd Learning account and to show you who you are signed in as. We do not transfer it to others except the service providers described below who help us run SoEd Learning, as required by law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with notice to you. We do not use it for advertising and no person at SoEd reads it except with your consent, for security, or as required by law. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can remove SoEd’s access at any time from your Google account settings.

We never sell personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers that help us run SoEd, such as our identity provider and our cloud hosting provider, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google’s own privacy policy also applies.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to a buyer if our business is sold, in which case this policy will continue to apply.

6. Where your data is stored

We store your data in the UK and the European Economic Area wherever we can. If data is stored or accessed elsewhere, we make sure the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or approved contract clauses.

7. How long we keep it

  • When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account data within 30 days, unless the law requires us to keep part of it.
  • Technical logs: up to 30 days.
  • Emails you send us: as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

8. Children

SoEd Learning is designed to help young people learn. Children under 13 should not create an account themselves: a parent or guardian should create it and supervise how the child uses the service. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If we learn that we have, or you think a child has given us personal data without that consent, contact us and we will delete it.

9. How we protect it

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, and we limit access to the people and systems that need it.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have it corrected if it is wrong;
  • have it deleted;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • receive it in a portable format.

To use any of these rights, including deleting your account, email hello@soed.uk. We will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy before we collect new kinds of data, for example when we add new SoEd Learning features, and we will change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell signed-in users before it takes effect.
